There has been a lot of “behind-the-scenes” work going on at ROWAN lately. Our local leaders recently met in Uganda to determine strategies for moving forward in ministry. They discussed the mission and vision statements for ROWAN, pillars of ministry and how that factors into our short and long term goals. This strategy meeting helped to identify what the next step might be and how to plan ahead for the future.
The board here in the United States also came together to clarify and formalize our key core values as an organization. We want to be sure that our values are reflected through our mission and vision and wanted some specific qualities to be present throughout our ministry, whether stateside or in Uganda.
Key Core Values of ROWAN
Faith in Christ
– Each individual involved in ROWAN’s ministry, whether it be paid staff or a volunteer should have a personal relationship with God. We want to promote and share the good news of the Gospel, and must first know Jesus on a personal level so we can be more effective in our calling.
Integrity
– Along with being a Christ-follower, we want to encourage people to demonstrate Christlike attributes in daily living. If an individual says that he/she will do something, we expect them to follow through and keep that promise.
Accountability
– We will hold people responsible for their actions and put measures in place so there is a system of checks and balances. When confrontation takes place, we will follow Biblical principles to address each situation in a manner that is God-honoring.
Compassion
– Compassion is the driving force of ROWAN’s mission and we want to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those we serve through our programs. When we love like Jesus, we will have compassion on those who are searching for hope in the midst of their circumstances.
Partnership
– ROWAN firmly believes that there is power in unity and coming together for a cause. We strive to network with other people and organizations with similar values in order to multiply the effect by empowering more people.
