I’m the new intern!
I am excited to announce that I have accepted a position as an intern with ROWAN here in Colorado! I will be assisting Kelsey in various projects, posting regularly on this blog, working on expanding the sponsorship program and learning through the process! Since you will be hearing from me often, I thought I would introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me.
My name is Liz and I have called Colorado Springs home for the past four years. Ever since I was a little girl I have dreamed of living here, so it has been wonderful to finally realize that dream. I have a big crazy family that I love and I’m originally from Kansas, so I grew up in the Midwest culture where everyone knows about your business and is genuinely interested in your life. As a result I have always been drawn to people and love learning about different cultures, trying various foods and traveling to new places. My goal in life is to make a difference by loving and serving those who are in need. I have a passion for advocating for those without a voice, helping people who are hurting and sharing the love of Jesus by being His hands and feet in the world around me.
I discovered ROWAN when I was taking a cross cultural communications class taught by Kelsey.
God divinely planned for our paths to cross and in talking with her I realized we shared a lot of the same passions and interests and I caught the vision for this incredible organization. God placed the country and people of Uganda on my heart over two years ago and I have been praying for a chance to visit. I became part of the sponsorship program and fell in love with Asanansi’s sweet smile and have been supporting her for the past year and a half.
This past June I was privileged to have the opportunity to travel to Uganda and spend some precious time in Mawanga with a small team of volunteers. While I was there, I was able to meet Asanansi and spend time with her and her family, hear about her struggles and experience her joy. I am eager to share with you what God taught me while I was there, as well as bring you stories from the village so that together we can make a difference!
